Four cards, one rule

You will see four cards and a rule, twice. Each time, think about which cards you would have to turn over to check the rule, and select exactly those. There is no time limit. Please work on your own, without searching the internet, and talk to others about it only after the shared explanation. Please stay on this page until you have finished. A short question follows at the end.
