A small arrow flashes briefly, then a large one follows: indicate as quickly as you can which way the large arrow points.
This is a solo practice run: your results stay in this browser tab and are never sent anywhere. To contribute to a class result, join a live session with a code instead.
This task is new to Classperiment and has not yet been fully tested. Issues may occur in the procedure or scoring. The expected effect may also fail to appear reliably.
Task time: 6–7 min; slow up to about 13
In each trial a large arrow appears above or below the middle. Indicate as quickly and accurately as possible which way it points: F for left, J for right. On a phone, tap the left or the right field below the picture.
Keep looking at the middle. Shortly before the large arrow, a small arrow flashes there each time, often followed by a pattern of lines. The small arrow does not tell you which way the large one points: respond only to the large arrow.
You start with 12 practice trials with feedback. Then come 168 trials in two blocks with a short break, and finally a short part with 24 trials about the small arrow. The whole task takes about 6 minutes.
