Two shapes appear in quick succession or at the same time; say which came first or whether both came at the same time.
This is a solo practice run: your results stay in this browser tab and are never sent anywhere. To contribute to a class result, join a live session with a code instead.
This task is new to Classperiment and has not yet been fully tested. Issues may occur in the procedure or scoring. The expected effect may also fail to appear reliably.
Task time: 5–6 min; slow up to about 9
In each trial you see two boxes to the left and right of a cross. A circle appears in one box and a square in the other – one shortly after the other or exactly at the same time.
Just before, one of the boxes is marked: its outline turns thick for a moment. The marking says nothing about which shape comes first: the shape in the marked box comes first just as often as the other one.
Keep your eyes on the cross in the middle during a trial.
The task has two parts. In one part you say which shape came first: F for the circle, J for the square. In the other you say whether both came at the same time: F for ‘same time’, J for ‘in sequence’. On a phone, tap the two fields below the boxes.
Speed does not matter; you have 2.5 seconds for each answer. If you are unsure, go with your impression.
Before each part you practise 4 trials with feedback; then 54 trials follow in each part without feedback. The whole task takes about 5 minutes.
