Pictures alternate with a changed version: find what changes.
In this task, pictures alternate with a grey field about two and a half times per second, so they flicker. If flickering pictures are unpleasant for you or you are sensitive to flickering light, skip the task. You can choose “End task” at any time; the flickering stops at once.
This is a solo practice run: your results stay in this browser tab and are never sent anywhere. To contribute to a class result, join a live session with a code instead.
This task is new to Classperiment and has not yet been fully tested. Issues may occur in the procedure or scoring. The expected effect may also fail to appear reliably.
Task time: 3–5 min; slow up to about 8
You will see pictures of everyday scenes. Each picture keeps alternating with a second version in which exactly one thing is different: an object is there one moment and gone the next. Sometimes a grey field appears briefly between the two versions, so the picture flickers.
Look for the change. As soon as you have clearly seen it, press “Found it” (the button below the picture, or the space bar). Then choose the box in which something changed and confirm. You have one try per picture. Please do not guess: if you find nothing, the next picture follows by itself after 30 seconds.
You start with 2 practice pictures. Then come 12 pictures. The whole task takes about 3 to 5 minutes.
